At the 2011 MELUS Conference in Boca Raton, Florida, I had the opportunity to attend a reading by Gary Shteyngart, author of Super Sad True Love Story, Absurdistan, and The Russian Debutante’s Handbook. He was reading from his newest novel, Super Sad True Love Story, and was kind enough to agree to let me post a crude video (and I have to apologize in advance for the poor quality of this video — I was using the video feature of my point-and-click camera, which is several years old) of the reading on this blog. The reading was just under 25 minutes long, and I’ve included it here for you. Shteyngart is charismatic and entertaining, and much of the time he had his captive audience laughing at his energetic reading and funny sidebars. So without further ado, here’s the reading (in 3 parts, since YouTube doesn’t like anything longer than 10 minutes).
