About I Dream Words

I Dream Words was started as a space for me to articulate my ideas about the books on my candidacy exam list, and has turned into an homage to books, and to share them with anyone who cares to read them. Books. Reading. Words on a page. This is my obsession, a black and white love affair that has resulted in the pursuit of a PhD in Literature — and subsequently, a neverending lifetime of looking at books. I am currently a PhD candidate at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I’m writing my dissertation on magical realism in contemporary US ethnic literature, and am enjoying the process way too much. There’s no turning back, but there are plenty of pages for me to turn, and I’ll write about them right here on this blog.

Hi Sister Bookworm! Thanks for your keen blog entry on “Rhapsody in Plain Yellow.” Have you read my new book of fiction “Revenge of the Mooncake Vixen?” Hope it could whet your surrealistic appetite!

    Good luck on your PhD!

With much love and best wishes, Marilyn Chin

Thank you for the kind words and warm wishes! I’m so excited that you visited my site and read my post. I actually read “Revenge of the Mooncake Vixen” a few months ago and loved it — I recently finished the first draft of a chapter in my dissertation that looks at your novel alongside two others. It was an amazing read, and I can’t believe I neglected to post about it (will fix that soon!).

Much love (and some embarrassingly giddy fan-girl giggles), Anne

        Best wishes, Marilyn

I will definitely do that! Thank you so much for your support — it’s wonderful motivation for me to know that you could be reading part of my diss when it’s through!

          Happily,
          Anne
